Stronger Unveiled At The Toronto International Film Festival

Stronger was a big movie launched this weekend at the 2017 Toronto International Film Festival.

It is a moving film that is touching in every sense.

This inspiring true story of tragedy and rebirth stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Tatiana Maslany as two people whose lives are forever altered by a terrifying act of violence. Directed by David Gordon Green, Stronger follows a survivor of the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing as he struggles to rebuild his life — and discover himself anew.

Runner Erin Hurley (Maslany) was still a mile away from the finish line when the bombs went off. Her boyfriend, Jeff Bauman (Gyllenhaal), however, was right there. He is rushed into surgery, but his legs must be amputated. The bombing’s immediate aftermath provides Jeff with an unexpected sense of purpose: he had seen one of the terrorists responsible for the blasts, and gives information to the FBI that proves instrumental in their investigation. Once that very public drama quiets down, Jeff’s personal drama, a challenge as much for his morale as his body, is just beginning. With Erin by his side, Jeff will slowly recover, one arduous step at a time.

Adapted by John Pollono from Bauman’s memoir of the same name, Stronger is a stirring tribute to the determination of its protagonist, the love his partner, and the spirit of the city he calls home. But Stronger also asks deeper questions about what it means to be a hero — questions heart-rendingly embodied by Gyllenhaal, who, with his curiosity, creativity, and courage, continues to prove himself one of the finest actors of his generation.

The film is scheduled to be released on September 22, 2017, by Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions.
