Holiday Makeup Trends 2017

This Season’s Hottest Makeup Trends

It really is the most wonderful time of the year. Time to play with new products, amp up your favourite holiday makeup—or try a completely new look! It’s also time to transform your winter skin from drab to fab and not just on your face, but your entire body! We’ve all seen red carpet photos of celebrities with the most alluring, glowing skin. Have you ever wondered how they got that look? The answer begins with skin prep. When it comes to beauty, it’s crucial that our skin is as smooth and clear as it can possibly be. Exfoliating facial skin two or three times per week will rid your skin of dry skin flakes and dead cells and speed up the renewal process, allowing your new, radiant skin to shine. Follow up your exfoliation with an immediate application of lotion while the skin is still damp, to ensure that your skin’s natural moisture is locked in.

Hottest Makeup Trends in 2017

Body blur

BODY BLUR LATTE LIGHTOnce your skin is moisturized and looking vibrant, time for the next step. If your skin looks a bit pale or blotchy, you may want to consider (brace yourself) body makeup. I know what you’re thinking. “I can’t wear body makeup! It’ll feel icky, look too obvious or transfer onto my clothing!” In all fairness, that CAN happen with some products. But never fear: Vita Liberata is here. This innovative company from Northern Ireland is the creator of “Body Blur,” my new staple for events. It’s named after the marvelous blurring effect is has upon contact with the skin, giving a natural-looking, water-resistant tint that washes off. This gem glides on effortlessly and comfortably and reflects light for a stunning photo finish.

Healthy Note

Body Blur is free from the following ingredients: parabens, harsh chemicals, perfume/fragrance, alcohol, animal derivatives, petrochemicals, sulphates, and silicones.

Pump up the glam

Put your best face forward this holiday season with the best thing that’s happened to cheeks since kisses! “Cloud Paints” cheek tints by Glossier have become my latest obsession. With four fabulous colours, I can’t think of a better way to add some festive oomph to your makeup regimen. These tints have a silky texture for an easy, streak-free application and are made with collagen to plump the skin. They also work beautifully with all skin tones. Start with a drop the size of a crumb and spread over the apples of your cheeks—a little goes a long way with these beauties.

Healthy Note

Glossier’s Cloud Paints are hypoallergenic, dermatologist-tested, paraben free, fragrance-free and cruelty-free.

Tis The Season For Falsies

Whether you’re new to the lash game or a frequent wearer, false lashes take your makeup to the next level by adding impact and drama to your eyes without looking overly made up. But how do you find the appropriate lash to best complement your unique eye shape? First, you need to consider both the width of your eye and the size of the upper lid (the space from upper lash line to lid crease) when your eyes are open. For those with a larger lid space, the door is pretty much wide open for you in terms of style and lash length. If you have deep set eyes with little to no lid space when eyes are open, finding a strip lash that is less dense in lash fibres will deliver a natural effect while producing the perfect amount of drama.

Now that you’ve found your perfect strip lash, read our step-by-step instructions to make sure that these lashes are a good fit before you glue!
