I don’t know about you, but I find myself often spending hours reading reviews and watching YouTube videos online for new cosmetic products. Is it worth the price? Will it work well with my skin shade or texture? But, never do I truly find myself putting in the time and effort researching for ingredients that could be toxic to my body!
Research can often be scarce and big confusing words crafted by cosmetic companies can be daunting. Thankfully, I have found a cosmetics “Dirty Dozen” by Toxic Cosmetics that does all of the work for you!
Toxic Cosmetics is unique in that they have crowdsourced from 19 individual sources to compile a list. From different vocations such as scientists, chemists, makeup sellers and popular makeup enthusiasts, the list has it all. Together, all key ingredients addressed were compiled into a list and ranked in order of most mentioned by all parties.
So, I know why you’re all here and you want to see this so called “Dirty Dozen” list!
Well you have asked and I have answered!
THE “DIRTY DOZEN” LIST
I’m assuming right now you’re doing what I did. You’ve either never heard of these ingredients, or, you’re wondering how things such as TAR DYES have made their way in into your cosmetics.
It’s important to do your research. Often times companies won’t do this for you. In fact, in the USA, the FDA has claimed that “Under the law, cosmetics must be safe when consumers use them according to product labeling, or the way in which the products are customarily used. But the law does not require cosmetics to be approved by FDA before they go on the market.”
Is it not rather bizarre that products with so many chemicals in them aren’t being tested by the FDA before they are sold to consumers?
As well, The American Cancer Society stated, “Consumers should be aware that there is no evidence that cosmetic products labeled as ‘natural,’ ‘organic,’ or ‘green’, are in fact safer than products that do not carry these labels.”
Trust me, that didn’t help my trust issues when I read it either… NOT!
Ladies and gents, do your research before slathering a product all over your face, hair, or body. I have attached Toxic Cosmetics research here for you to educate yourself on these findings, in hopes that over time, we will all truly know what we’re exposing ourselves to!
