You Are What You Eat: Food To Get Your Skin Glowing

If you are what you eat, then eating the right foods could mean a clear, glowing complexion and skin that looks and feels amazing.

Is your way of eating helping or hurting your complexion?

Your diet keeps your body slim and healthy, but its impact doesn’t stop there. The food you eat — from wrinkle-fighting antioxidants in fruits and vegetables to hydrating healthy fats in fish — may matter to your skin almost as much as it does to your waistline.

Processed foods such as french fries, doughnuts and other starchy or sugary snacks promote acne. As well simple carbohydrates, like refined sugar, white bread and soda, will cause your insulin levels to spike, which leads to a burst of inflammation throughout the body.  Inflammation produces enzymes that break down collagen and elastin, resulting in sagging skin and wrinkles.

Foods get digested and broken down into vitamins, minerals and amino acids that your body can use to build healthy skin.

Food to get your skin glowing

  • Sunflower seeds

Vitamin C is a super antioxidant and is needed for a strong immune system, but there are amazing benefits for your skin. For radiant skin the best sources from whole foods are blackberries, blueberries, broccoli, guava, kiwi fruits, oranges, papaya, and strawberries. Not only are berries loaded with skin clearing antioxidants, but they’re packed with fibre too. Fibre is great for staving off hunger pangs and regulating insulin production.

Eat well. Look good. And feel good!
