Have you ever wanted the perfect lipstick shade but couldn’t quite find it no matter how hard you looked? Toronto’s own BITE Beauty can help you with their very own Lip Lab by BITE.
BITE Beauty Lip Lab
I had heard about the Lip Lab for a while now, where you can go and create your very own lipstick from a multitude of colours, scents and finishes. So, I went to the Lip Lab and put the hype to the test.
The Lip Lab has two options, the Custom Lipstick and the Bespoke Lipstick.
With the Custom option you get to choose a shade from nearly 200 BITE pigments completed with your choice between 9 scents: wildberry, vanilla, coconut, citrus mango, citrus mask, mint, violet, cherry and lime. You also get to choose between BITE’s signature lipstick finishes – amuse bouche, matte cream and glossy sheer. The Custom Lipstick option retails for $55 per person for 1 lipstick or $80 for two customized lipsticks.
The Bespoke option allows you to choose two unique shades crafted by a BITE Beauty artist. With this option the scents remain the same, although the finishes of the lipsticks are between luminous, matte and sheer cuvee. Along with your lipstick, you receive a lip kit that includes a deluxe mini Whipped Cherry Fruit Scrub, a deluxe mini Agave Lip Mask, and a deluxe mini Line and Define Lip Primer with a total retail price of $150 per person.
As I walked into the Lip Lab in was in search of my perfect nude lipstick that would not only match my skin tone, but would suit my everyday makeup look. As I was seated at my station, my BITE Beauty artist asked me exactly what it is I was looking for in terms of colour and finish and then began mixing away. By asking exactly what type of nude I wanted she was able to mix my desired lipstick shade on the first try. As she asked me what it is I wanted to change about the colour, I was surprised to say nothing.
Next, I chose my scent, selecting any scent of the nine scents I wanted, with the ability to mix two scents together. I decided to go with vanilla-mint, which sounded like a strange combo to most, but gave a fresh sweet taste that I personally loved!
Finally, right before my eyes the shades were added together, melted and then poured into the lipstick moulding. I watched my own creation transform into a tangible lipstick and I couldn’t be more excited.
I’m sure you’re wondering what happened after I had left the Lip Lab and tried my lipstick out for the first time at home. Well, for me it was not only just as good as it was when I put it on in the store, but also suddenly transformed into my everyday lip colour. Overall, the Lip Lab was great and I definitely recommend it at least for the experience or to help find that very colour you’ve been searching for.
The BITE Lip Lab is definitely Vitalize approved and if you’re around Queen Street West, you should absolutely pop in and get the lipstick experience of a lifetime!
